OURAY, Colo. (Aug. 16, 2012) – The sixth annual FJ Summit kicked off Wednesday, July 18, bringing together FJ Cruiser and Toyota enthusiasts from across the United States and Canada. This three-day event, sponsored by Discount Tire for the fifth consecutive year, takes off-road enthusiasts to new heights, some literally as they soar 12,000 feet in elevation throughout the beautiful San Juan Mountains of Colorado.
“Our participation at the FJ Summit is a great opportunity for us to make new friends, solidify existing relationships and to show everyone that Discount Tire is full of automotive enthusiasts just like them,” said Cary Paris, General Manager at Discount Tire. “Many of us are passionate about four-wheeling. In fact, we drive our own vehicles at the event and then drive them to work on Monday. By using the products we sell, we gain real-world experience that allows us to recommend the best tires to meet our customer’s needs.”
At the event, Discount Tire sponsored the opening night barbeque dinner and
co-hosted the opening night ice cream social with Falken Tire. Discount Tire and Falken Tire also surprised attendees with a raffle for a brand new set of Falken Rocky Mountain ATS tires.
The main attractions at the FJ Summit are the towering San Juan Mountains and the 4×4 trails that are etched into them. When these trails were initially created, Black Bear Pass, Poughkeepsie Gulch, Alpine Loop, Imogene Pass and many others were once roads created for mining companies. At the FJ Summit, attendees are guided through these rustic trails with the reward of endless views, dizzying heights and plenty of mining artifacts along the way. Discount Tire sponsors and participates in daily trail rides during the event.
